The Asian Elephant and Water Buffalo Experience

The Asian water Buffalo has been listed as Endangered in the IUCN Red List since 1986, as the remaining population totals less than 4,000. A population decline of at least 50% over the last three generations (24–30 years) is projected to continue. The global population has been estimated at 3,400 individuals, of which 3,100 (91%) live in India.

Help us, help them.

During our Asian elephant and water buffalo experience, You will trek 1 and a half hours through the beautiful Khun Khan National Park, enjoying the beautiful views surrounding you in the rainforest  where you will come to see the water buffalo's in their natural environment, learn about them and feed them special salt in bamboo and rice straws. After your interaction with the buffalo's, you will trek through the forest again to meet our majestic elephants, you will begin to make special herbal medicine for the elephants, learn about them, feed them and bath them in the river.

Finally after saying goodbye to the elephants you will trek through a coffee plantation to a local Karen Hilltribe village.

Once here we will prepare to head back to Chiang Mai City arriving back at your hotel around 6:00 pm.

Our goal for this program is to get enough visitors to buy 1 to 2 beautiful water buffalos a year, to keep them free in our rain forest and hopefully in the future help to bring the water buffalo population up in Thailand.

We can only achieve this through education and support from visitors like you!

Where Your Money Goes

It has been said, that the kindest thing that an ethical, animal-loving tourist can do is to go and enjoy an up-close encounter with animals in an ethical, sustainable and responsible way. Your money will go to helping bring back the buffalo population and taking care of our family elephants. Without visitors, elephant rescue sanctuaries and homes have little means to care and provide for the elephants and now we are trying to conserve the buffalo population too.

Elephant and buffalo Conservation

Asian Elephant and buffalo experience the majority proportion of the money from our visitors goes towards looking after the elephants with an ultimate goal of bringing more elephants home as often as can be achieved and on a perpetual basis and buying more buffalo's to help bring their population up from the brink of exctinction.
